Bad Apple

Man Vs Machine

Bad Apple, is a creative response to the brief “Hope in a time of Crisis”. The project aims to advocate for artistic production as an environmentally-conscious solution to increasing (and often unnecessary) AI usage. Creative production, although labour intensive, is framed as the original intelligence. As an opportunity for collaboration, it encourages community engagement, and facilitates information growth through expansion of ideas rather than just through access of mined and AI cultivated information.

This project is a showcase of the capacity of artistic skill, in contributing to conversations relevant to culture without the environmental hangover of AI usage. Every frame, animation, and sound has been created rather than cultivated, towards a conversation about social cognitive dissonance and psychological distancing. The collaborators have traced their energy and labour usage as a creative and scientific exploration towards understanding the possibly limitations of creative production, that perhaps popularise and preference AI usage.

This project strives to reclaim art and creative production as the sustainable ‘intelligence’, one that has lower environmental risks, promises better cultural engagement, and encourages more conservant creative practices towards a future that champions expansive technological and cultural growth.
